Running a Python 2.4b1 MSI install (in this case
installing over a 2.4a1 install) and specifying "don't
register extensions" de-registers the default 2.3 "run"
action for .py files.

Possibly installing over the a1 release confused the
installer and it deregistered the 2.3 default action
thinking it was deregistering the previously installed
2.4 action?

This is seen on Win2k sp4, btw.

Did the 2.4a1 installation have extensions registered?

Closing this as "works for me".
