The mac installer for 2.4.3 and 2.5 patches ~/.profile or ~/.bash_profile.
If a .bash_login file exists and no .bash_profile exists the installer
currently creates a .profile, which won't be used by bash.

This is probably fixed in 52238, 52239 and 52240 (trunk, 2.5, 2.4), but needs
more testing to make sure that we now test for all edge condiditions.
