When I shut down IDLE on Windows 2000 Professional
running Python 2.2.1 I get a popup with "TclNotifier:
pythonw.exe - Application Error" in the name bar
and "The instruction at "0x77fcb144" referenced memory
at "0x00b3300010". The memory could not be "read"."
in the message box.

I'm sure you see this, and it's probably a bug somewhere, but
nobody else is seeing this. We tested IDLE and Python 2.2.1
on Windows 2000 and we don't see this here. So I doubt
you're going to have much luck getting this fixed.

Do you have a virus detector installed? Try turning it off.

I have a Norton AntiVirus 2001. When I shut it down, IDLE
then works fine. When I turn it back on, IDLE still works
fine. Amazing.

Antivirus software is one of the leading causes of
mysterious Python failures.
