As of 2.4 Python no longer runs on MacOS9 or earlier. We need to
go through all the documentation loooking for references to
"macintosh", "mac", "apple", "macos" and such to check whether
these references are still valid.

Should we change the mentions to "OS X" or "darwin"? It would help
remove any possible misunderstanding of OS 9 support and make sure
we caught all doc mentions. Could also help specify and difference
between Darwin and OS X explicitly.

"Macintosh" is fine as a reference, but we need to check that the tekst is
actually relevant to OSX. There may be lots of things that can go,
referring to non-virtual memory or :-separated filenames, or resource
forks, or whatever. Or, at the very least, it may need rewording.

As to darwin: I wouldn't cater for that. Technically it's nice to support it,
but I'd be surprised if there were a 1000 people out there actually
running it.

Brett,
can I coerce you into reviewing this patch? If not assign back to me and
I'll find another victim...

Oh yes, lest we forget: if the patches are accepted they should also be
applied to the 2.4 maintainance branch.

I will review it, I just can't make any guarantee as to when I will get to
it.

OK, applied to both 2.5 and 2.4 . Attached is a text file with the CVS
commit log; too many files to list the new rev. #s individually.
